This project, 2024 Environmental Research Data Analysis & Edge Computing Platform, primarily aims to establish a data-driven information environment for the Institute to promote developments in environmental data science. The data warehouse and analysis platform serve as the foundation for applications of data analysis, utilizing ETL tools for data processing to load data into the warehouse. Through visualization and
interactive tools, the analysis results are presented, allowing users to quickly uncover hidden insights and even make impactful business decisions.
Based on interviews with relevant departments, the project executive team has set up dashboards for 4 data analysis topics: “Dioxin Detection
Correlation Analysis,” “Taoyuan Drinking Water Quality Inspection,”“Water Pollution Inspection Issue Analysis,” and “PM2.5 Chemical
Composition Monitoring Issue Analysis,” totaling 7 dashboards.Additionally, a three-tier data warehouse has been established (including
STAGE, ODS, and DW layers), comprising 25 tables used for the 4 data analysis topics, and an external open data archive framework has been
designed along with the development of 20 ETL jobs for data processing.
The team has also built a knowledge base for the latest environmental research insights, the Institute's research outcomes, and information on the data analysis platform developed by the project, as well as providing an e-newsletter service.
The project executive team conducted three training sessions: “System Platform Training,” “Vertica Data Warehouse Training,” and “Data
Analysis Application Training.” Furthermore, the team conducted interviews to understand the Institute’s needs and proposed a data governance plan. In addition, big data analysis application cases from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of the Interior were collected to
suggest feasible advancements as references for the Institute’s big data development.
