The implementation period of this project is from February 1, 2024, to November 30, 2024. This final report covers progress as of November 30, 2024. A summary of the work executed is provided below:
1. Public Restroom Cleaning and Management
(1) By March 31, 2024 in the first quarter, the project had conducted evaluations and verified the accuracy of inventory data for 4,889 public restrooms, including surveillance of surrounding paths and restrooms previously subsidized in past years.
(2) It had completed four rounds of random inspections (one per quarter) for all registered public restrooms under jurisdiction, totaling 19,595 inspections. The quarterly average ratings were as follows: 73.3% rated “Excellent,” 12.7% rated “Good,” and 14% rated “Average.”
(3) The project had conducted 6,277 inspections of key public restrooms in areas such as railway stations, night markets, traditional markets, tourist destinations, and scenic spots (including leisure farms and forest recreation areas) (620 inspections monthly between February and April; 631 inspections monthly between May and November).
(4) 12 diaper-changing stations and 12 child safety seats were installed.
(5) It had assisted Tainan Bus Station in transforming one restroom into a “Model Courtesy Restroom” by integrating IoT technologies for a “Smart Restroom” system. It had installed a smart display at the entrance and created visual enhancements, including illustrated etiquette guidelines in each stall.
(6) The project had provided labor assistance for restroom and environmental maintenance during the Taiwan Lantern Festival.
2. Vacant Property Inspections and Environmental Hygiene Advocacy
(1) The project had conducted 1,852 inspections of vacant properties, with 22 locations delisted.
(2) It had organized one field exercise for dengue outbreak preparedness with 92 participants.
(3) In support of the 2024 Tainan Public Restroom Excellence Awards Program, the project held one promotional event with a lottery. A total of 5,900 votes were cast, with the “CPC Anshun Gas Station” leading in the gas station category with 551 votes, followed by the “Evergreen Plaza Hotel” under Taiwan Sugar Corporation in the entertainment venue category with 519 votes.
(4) The project had conducted two public restroom cleaning workshops, enhancing safety awareness and a sense of mission among citizens and cleaning staff, with 64 participants.
(5) A training session with expert demonstrations on common mosquito control equipment and pesticide application were held, attended by 92 participants. The event enhanced the technical expertise of chemical control personnel across districts.
(6) Partnered with the National Mosquito-Borne Diseases Control Research Center, the project had conducted a dengue breeding source elimination seminar. The session included outdoor field training on three inspection routes, with 116 participants.
(7) One anti-betel nut seminar was held, with 95 participants.
(8) The project had organized one environmental hygiene advocacy event alongside a coastal cleanup, promoting the concept of “No Cigarette Butts on the Ground,” with 505 participants.
