Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) have environmental persistence and bioaccumulation, and have been found to impact human health and the environment. This project aims to assist the project organizer in collecting and analyzing international PFAS management systems and latest trends, media and public opinion news topics, and compiling domestic ministries and departments, control measures and existing data, to promote inter-ministerial consultation, communication and management measures, and to build intelligent search data interfaces and AI question and answer services, as well as assist in international exchanges, public risk communication education and promotion, and website design.
This project has fully collected the international management laws and policy development trends for PFAS management, collected and analyzed relevant laws of the United Nations Stockholm Convention, the European Union, the United States and Japan, excerpted important international comprehensive assessment reports, technical documents, and collected the latest international management dynamics and progress. It has also collected the PFAS investigation and testing data from various domestic ministries and departments over the years, including surface water, soil, sediment, food packaging, drinking water and more. At the same time, it cooperates with the "PFAS Management Action Plan" to integrate the annual results of various ministries and departments, and propose content adjustment and revision suggestions for the action plan. The management strategies and practices for PFAS management issues of concern at home and abroad, such as firefighting foam, drinking water, food packaging, cosmetics, pesticides, etc., have also been completed for data collection and analysis.
During the project implementation period, this project continued to track the content of news, environmental organizations, scientific research and public reports. A total of 57 domestic and 78 foreign news reports on specific PFAS events or topics were collected, and 15 important news or publication data released by foreign government organizations were excerpted. This project also assisted in holding 1 cross-ministerial exchange meeting, 1 Taiwan-US PFAS international exchange meeting, and 2 expert consultation meetings. In terms of public education and promotion, we have assisted in the production of various risk communication and education promotion materials, completed 1 knowledge promotion exhibition, and commissioned university experts to assis in writing 56 expert-reviewed PFAS knowledge database, and built a AI Chinese PFAS Q&A knowledge dialogue query system, which could put on the website page, provide the public with correct knowledge in real time, and enhance the public's understanding of PFAS science knowledge.
