Tasks accomplished include setting up audit procedures and standards, such as criterions and procedures for environmental hygiene inspection, the approach to promote and reinforce local authorities in achieving and maintaining overall cleanliness, so as to eliminate illegal littering and to improve living quality and boost international image.
Completion of drafting an environmental hygiene inspection plan for all counties and cities to assist local environmental authorities in accomplishing six major tasks, namely heighten pollution clampdown, environmental pollution elimination, ditch drainage and beach clearing, encouragement of pollution complaint, promotion of a greener and more desirable environment, and enhancement of educational promotion.
Both regular and random on-site inspections as well as public satisfaction poll were carried out to evaluate the performance of the local environmental protection authorities in implementing environmental cleanliness. Inspection reports were prepared on areas that require improvement to assist authorities in tracking down the latest implementation developments. Public participation and intensifying campaign promotion are essential in achieving the ultimate goal of environmental pollution elimination.
