This project firstly visited 150 medical enterprises over the country and widely collected baseline data and related reports from different countries. According to the obtained information, the management proposals for medical wastes were provided. To encourage the communications between the medical enterprises, government and the academia, symposiums about the clearance and treatment of medical wastes are hold sequentially in Taipei, Tainan, and Hualian. Comments about the regulations of medical wastes are also gathered during the symposiums. All the investigation results are finally included in the two handbooks compiled separately for the medical organizations and government inspectors.
This project also investigated the 38 medical incinerations in Taiwan. The consequences of the dioxin omission regulation were evaluated and an emergency procedure was finally provided.
