The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Act has been enacted more than eleven years and there are more than hundreds of EIA statements or draft reports each year. Through the public review by the EIA committees under different local provinces or counties, EIA has an important function to prevent pollution, maintain and ecology.
With time and environment, relevant EIA regulations have been announced under the act including EIA implementation process, guidelines, review specifications and and technical specifications. These indicate that the EIA system is constantly updated to cope with the need of social and natural environment, and also aiming at developing a rational EIA system.
To achieve the target of the plan this year, Taiwan Environmental Management Association (TEMA) organized the promotion of EIA regulations and the seminars of EIA system. And the relevant data that EIA regulations and information are collected for promotion. With four EIA regulation promotions and one EIA system seminar, the goals of this project are completed. And in order to emphasize the understanding and value of EIA to relevant companies, and also provide the communication channel between government and the project developing organizations and EIA consultants.
