The objective of this project was to have the dynamics and policy trend of Taiwan’s environmental protection regulations gathered, integrated, analyzed and translated by experts who are familiar with environmental protection regulations and policies. Then the participants and executors of environmental protection policies, specifically department heads in the EPA, would be interviewed on policy practices covering from human resource turnover, budgeting, to current status of policy implementation. The content in English was published in periodicals and on the Internet, providing all circles a convenient channel to understanding Taiwan’s environmental protection policy practices, and the effect and popularization of the policy.
Publication of Environmental Protection Policy Monthly in English: Up until December 2006, 625 copies were mailed out domestically, 209 copies internationally, 834 copies in total. On the other hand, 1215 copies of electronic periodicals were e-mailed out. Totaling the subscriptions of hard and soft copies, there are already 2049 constant readers.
In addition to periodical publications, this project covered other tasks as follows: promulgation of the periodical via the Internet, appointed personnel stationed in the EPA to assist handling English documents, production of the English version of EPA’s policy briefing to Legislative Yuan in 2006 (replacing the EPA’s introduction booklet in English), and lastly, production and updates of EPA’s Multimedia English presentations.
