This project was designed to develop the goal of environment quality in Taiwan for next two decades. The goal of environment quality has been set up by evaluating the task of environment pollution control, strategy, and economic development. A set of environment quality index has been developed for well defining the content of environment issue, and used for evaluating the progress of environment quality improvement, forward the goals in 2012, 2017, and 2027, respectively. By integrating the comments from EPA governing officers and staffs, expertise, the task force proposed the vision of environment quality as Clean in 2012, Healthy in 2017, and Comfortable in 2027.
There are six sectors of environmental quality covered in the project, including: Air environment, Water environment, Soil and groundwater environment, Waste and Resource Management, Environment Management, and Healthy community.
Each sector of environmental quality subcategory was defined by several objectives and substantial indices. There are total 128 indices proposed in the project.
By integrating the comments from disciplinary sectors the vision for each environmental sector for next two decades had been proposed following:
Clean, Comfortable and Health Air
Clean and Safe Water
Land Preservation, Restoration and Sustainability
Resource Recycling Society
Justice and Rightfulness Environment
Healthy and Sustainability Communities
According to the proposals on these environmental quality issues for future improvement, a draft entitled as Development plan for Goals of Taiwan Environment Quality was proposed by the task force of this study.
