The Project, “The Specific Environmental Protection Service Industry Survey, 2008” was commissioned by Environmental Protection Administration of Executive Yuan. It aims to establish the basic service capability and the statistical data regarding the operation status of the specific environmental protection industry.
The subjects included nationwide pathogen control services, waste disposal and collection services, resource recycling services, environmental test services authorized by and registered at the administration authority. Questionnaires employed in this survey were mailed to the subjects.
The brief summaries and conclusions of the survey are as follows:</br>
1. There were 3,246 environmental protection service industry at the end of 2007. The major of the business in the industry were private-owned.</br>
2. There was a total of 27,879 employees in the industry at the end of 2007; the average salary was NT$345 thousands and 303 dollars.</br>
3. The environmental protection service industry generated a total revenue of NT$145.25 billion in 2007; total expenditure of NT$119.14 billion.</br>
4. Only 5.4% of the environmental protection service industry passed the international certificate.</br>
5. 60% of the enterprises in the environmental protection service industry considered their business will become worse in 2008 than in 2007.</br>
6. The main operation bottleneck of the environmental protection service industry was “business competition”.
