From the day immediately following the tender decision day, i.e.May 11th, 2016, to October 20th, 2016, the Project had scheduled toimplement various types of promotional activities and advocacy seminars on resource recycling. The results of relevant tasks implemented are described as follows:
(I) Advocacy campaign for resource recycling on boats and at fishing ports
In collaboration with the commercial-, fishing-, recreation- ports or passenger terminal of Kaohsiung City, advocacy campaign on resource recycling was conducted; the results of such campaign are as follows:
1. Totally four advocacy activities were conducted to promote the recycling of resources related to port operation, including the "Large-scale Campaign for Marine Resource Recycling" held on August 13th and 14th, 2016 attracting more than 1,506
person-time; the "Campaign for Resource Recycling at KaohsiungJhongyun Fishing Port" held on May 29th and from June 9th to 11th, 2016 attracting more than 1,006 person-time; the "Campaign for Resource Recycling at Kaohsiung Singda Fishing Port" held on August 20th and August 21s t, 2016 attracting more than 805 person-time, and finally the "Campaign for Resource Recycling at Kaohsiung Kezailiao Fishing Port" held on September 17th and September 18th, 2016 attracting more than 708 person-time. The four advocacy campaigns had attracted more than 4,025
person-time altogether.
2. The "Large-scale Campaign for Marine Resource Recycling":In addition to booths set up for promotion resource recycling,excellent performances were arranged to entertain visitors. In line with the campaign theme, figurative resource recycle
barrels were designed for demonstration. Totally 1,417 visitors were engaged in game contests while individual recycle business owners were matched up for recycling classification so that especially the disadvantaged were looked after. The campaign was designed in a way that it was informative, fruitful and fun.
3. The "Campaign for Resource Recycling at Kaohsiung Jhongyun Fishing Port":
In addition to booths set up for promotion resource recycling, excellent performances were arranged to entertain visitors. In line with the campaign theme, figurative recycle barrels and classification of ocean resources were designed for demonstration. Many visitors were also engaged in game contests, recycle-in-exchange-for-small-token at the mobile recycling vehicle site, among other activities. The campaign was designed in a way that it was informative, fruitful and fun. .
4. The "Campaign for Resource Recycling at Kaohsiung Singda Fishing Port",In addition to booths set up for promotion resource recycling,excellent performances were arranged to entertain visitors. Inline with the campaign theme, figurative resource recycle barrels were designed for demonstration. Abnormal tribes were
also incorporated into our activities. Many visitors participated in recycling-in-exchange-for-small-token, both mingling with abnormal people and at the mobile recycling vehicle site. The campaign was designed in a way that it was informative,
fruitful and fun.
5. The "Campaign for Resource Recycling at Kaohsiung Kezailiao Fishing Port"
In addition to booths set up for promotion resource recycling, excellent performances were arranged to entertain visitors. In line with the campaign theme, figurative resource recycle barrels were designed for demonstration. Many visitors participated in recycling-in-exchange-for-small-token at the mobile recycling vehicle site. The campaign was designed in a way that it was informative, fruitful and fun.
(II) Solidifying the foundation for resource recycle
1. In conjunction with universities in Kaohsiung area - e.g.Masanori University of Science and Technology, the environmental vanguard was established to undertake the circular recycling advocacy. In summary, we had appeared at city schools 20 times accounting for a total of 2,665 person-time involvement, and at suburb schools 10 times accounting for a total of 770 person-time involvement. As a result, a total of 439 kilograms of waste dry batteries were recovered which accounted for 1.4% of the total waste dry batteries recovered from May to September 2016 in the 439 kilogram
2. Two counts of resource recycling summer camps were held during summer holiday, attracting a total of 200 trainees who, once done with the camp, would join our “Love Recycling Circle”. As an instructor of the circle, circle member would help
promote resource recycling concept based on their camp and service experience to partake in resource recycling in person by recycling kitchen waste on the spot.
(III) Results of ‘recycling-in-exchange-for-small-token’1. During the activity period, the resource recovery rate was 48.6% at the highest in July 2016, growing up 0.5% in comparison to the resource recovery rate 48.1% in May, 2016.
2. During the activity period, 544.5 kilograms of waste dry batteries were recovered which accounted for 1.2% of the total waste dry batteries recovered from May to September 2016 in the amount of 44,793 kilograms by Kaohsiung City Cleaner Team. In terms of waste mobile phones, totally 7.9 kilograms were recovered, accounting for 13.2% of the total waste mobile phone recovered from May to September 2016 in the amount of 60 kilograms by Kaohsiung City Cleaner Team. In terms of waste glass container, they were mainly recovered through mobile recycling vehicles and totally 5,025 kilograms of such were recovered, accounting for 0.1% of the total waste glass container recovered from May to September 2016 in the amount of 5,883,916 kilograms by Kaohsiung City Cleaner Team. In terms of waste pesticide container, totally 355 kilograms were recovered, accounting for 75% of the total waste pesticide containers recovered from May to September 2016
in the amount of 475 kilograms by Kaohsiung City Cleaner Team.
(IV) Creativity campaign for resource recycling
1.One promotional filming was shot (about 10 minutes or longer) for the educational advocacy use by institutions/ companies 2.Running large-scale promotional event – 2016 Shoushan Fantasy Summer night, featuring animal families:Theming on making aware of and promoting the newly approved recovery waste lamp tube for coming 2017 (including four kinds of light-emitting diode (LED) lighting sources, namely: straight, loop, close-type and built-in stabilizer), this event was designed to advocate LED recycling. At the event, totally 19 kilograms of 1,305 waste dry batteries were recovered, and more than 1,600 person-time visits had been counted for the event participation.
3.Running large-scale promotional event – New Residents Recycling Campaign: At New Residents Recycling Campaign, totally 71 people attended who all answered questions 100% correctly, showing that the promotional contents were easy to understand. Besides, foreigner residents were also able to answer questions 100% correctly regarding advanced resource recycling issues.
(V) Other tasks in assisting resource recovery business
1.2,000 copies 2017 Calendar were printed for promotional purposes, covering information such as recycling-related laws and regulations
2.A total of 1,041 surveys on citizen satisfaction were collected to reflect the performance of resource recovery job done inKaohsiung City.
